Mission:
Develop players for the Kansas City Wizards professional soccer team.
Philosophy:
The philosophy of the KC Wizards Juniors is to develop soccer players that are proficient technically, tactically, physically and psychologically.
· Technical – A player's technique on the ball (Dribbling / Passing / Receiving / Heading)
· Tactical – How a player carries out individual and team tactics during the course of the game. (Decision making abilities in defending and attacking with consideration of time, score and adjustments throughout the game.)
· Physical –Speed / agility, strength / power, recovery and overall game fitness
· Psychological – Mental toughness and attitude on and off the field
The KC Wizards Juniors program is looking for players that possess a combination of the above components with emphasis on how they apply these components to the game.
KC Wizards Juniors:
The Kansas City Wizards Juniors U16 & U18 teams participate in the United States Soccer Development Academy. The focus of the Academy is player development. Academies provide players with the best possible opportunity to achieve their utmost potential as elite soccer players.
Each Academy team will be expected to hold a minimum of three training sessions per week during the Academy season. The Academy Team will have at least one rest day per week during the Academy League season. During the Academy Season, games will require travel (including air).
Developmental Players (DP):
Developmental Players are those that the Technical Staff has identified as potential full time players. A player's status may only be changed one time during the year.
Developmental Players are:
- required to attend all training sessions
- only able to appear in a maximum of six Academy games per season
- not eligible for the Playoffs
- required to play futsal during the winter months
- provided training gear and will receive uniforms as needed (game uniforms must be returned)
